News from the farm

It’s been a bit since we have updated our posts on the happenings of the farm. The Soap Cottage is everything and more than I ever dreamed of having. We are working in it daily to create all of our products.
Over the last year, we have added an additional porch which gives an improved appearance and an easier access to cottage. We have also done the foundational plantings and put up hanging baskets. We have added a walking trail which will lead to a meditation garden, once it’s dry enough to get to it. Just this winter, we put gravel all the way up to cottage. The process of taking down dead trees is ongoing, as is our ever changing landscape ideas.
Over the past two years we have been utilizing a program called Workaway. With this program, we have been able to leapfrog our goals. This program matches up farmers and intern type workers to help with daily farm life and goals. We have had several international workers and lots of domestic ones as well. There have been folks from eighteen to sixty two.  It has been so much fun and we have learned something from everyone. Because of these folks, we are so very ahead of where we would be without them.
This spring finds us putting in our second Market Garden. It is our hope to produce fresh naturally grown veggies for our local community. We are working on about 3000 square feet. To date we have lettuces, spinach, carrots, radishes, peas, cucumbers, and squash in. We are waiting for tomatoes, peppers and beans for our soil to warm a bit.
We can’t wait to see what this season brings.

The season we are in now is so crazy. We are spending our days on the farm, doing what we do. I have lost all of my spring shows because of the virus. We will endure! We will come out of this stronger! Please know that we are here and have lots of product available. We are happy to have you come pick up product as you need it.
